Intro
Welcome to my campaign website! I'm committed to serving the Farnham and Bordon community with dedication and passion. Explore my background, values, and vision for our constituency and nation.
About Me
As a dedicated healthcare director and active community champion, I am deeply invested in the future of Britain and the Farnham and Bordon parliamentary seat.
Personal Background and Constituency Connections:
I have deep roots in this constituency, with family ties tracing back over a century in Haslemere, where my father’s family proudly owned Staffords sweet shop. My mother's parents fled the USSR and fascist Germany, fought for Britain in World War II, and settled locally. My Gran worked as a nurse, and my Grandad built a business from nothing. They instilled in their children—and in me—the values of hard work, societal participation, and perseverance. My wife and I now proudly raise our two daughters with these same principles.
These experiences shaped my political values: individual freedom, meritocracy, hard work, care for our countryside, and self-reliance within a framework of law and tradition. These are the foundations of what I proudly call traditional common-sense conservatism.
Healthcare Leadership:
In my role as a senior NHS director, I have driven crucial reforms, reducing waiting times, improving patient care, and saving billions in taxpayer money. I have worked closely with doctors and nurses to achieve remarkable outcomes, such as reducing waiting times and improving patient experiences. During the pandemic, I played a key role in recruiting retired and departed clinicians to staff the Nightingale hospitals and volunteered on the frontline. My efforts were instrumental in managing the crisis and ensuring our healthcare system remained resilient.
Charity and Community Work:
Community service is at the heart of my work. I have raised over £30,000 for Ukraine relief efforts and more than £10,000 for various charities, including through the Farnham 50-mile bike ride. As a school governor for 18 years, I successfully turned around a failing primary school and led its transition to Academy status. I also serve as a trustee of a charity that provides grants for musical instruments and lessons to aspiring children from less affluent backgrounds. This year, one of our young recipients went on to study at the Royal College of Music, a testament to the impact of our efforts. I am also the chairman of a charity set up to aid Ukraine, where we have raised substantial funds for relief and rebuilding efforts.
My background in healthcare and community service has equipped me with the skills and dedication needed to address the issues facing our constituency and to work tirelessly for the betterment of Farnham and Bordon.
National Priorities
I believe that a strong Conservative government is essential to securing a prosperous future for Britain. Here are my national priorities:
1. Healthcare Reform:
2. Economic Growth:
3. Public Safety:
4. Education:
Local Priorities
For Farnham and Bordon, I have developed a comprehensive six-point plan to address our most pressing issues:
1. Expanding Local Healthcare: Improving access to GP and dental services is my top priority. Since 2019, the Conservatives have delivered 50 million extra GP appointments, but with demand high, more needs to be done! Farnham and Haslemere hospitals need to expand, and Bordon needs a proper health hub.
2. No More Homes Without Better Infrastructure: We need affordable homes for local families, but often schools, GP surgeries, roads, and leisure centres aren't built to support them. We've just got a new banking hub in Haslemere, and one is coming in Bordon. Now we need the Edge to reopen to the public and more youth facilities.
3. More Police to Tackle Crime: I've worked with our Police & Crime Commissioners to ensure that the 1,000 extra police officers in our area proactively tackle crime and antisocial behaviour in town centres, support businesses in reporting and catching shoplifters, and reduce reckless driving through the villages.
4. Protecting Our Natural Environment: We are lucky to be surrounded by green spaces, AONB, and National Parks. We must prioritize brownfield sites for development, recalculate our housing targets, and get Lib Dem-run Waverley to sort out their failed planning department. Then we need to tackle all forms of pollution.
5. Fixing Roads & Improving Local Transport: Our county councils must use the Government's pothole fund to fix our roads. I'm delighted that the Headley Road is being resurfaced in Grayshott, but this is just the start! The Wrecclesham bypass must go ahead. I will continue to urge Stagecoach to deliver the 18 bus service and a rail-link bus.
6. Real Support for Families and Working People: We will support families by giving working parents with young children 30 hours of free childcare by 2025. The Triple Lock gave pensioners an 8.5% rise this year. The new Triple Lock Plus means the state pension will never be taxed. We have also reduced National Insurance by £900 on the average wage.
